It takes a mind to be manipulated to steal or take drugs but it’s a whole another kind that can even ponder to murder over and over. I just don’t understand that type of mind that suddenly wakes up to realise that they are a mass murderer.
What you're guessing at is dealt with in the book. Where you're born is happenstance. The environment and education you're born into is also happenstance. There are those, including men and women in the US and other countries, that believe these things could never happen to them. But I guarantee you that given the wrong circumstances, which have grown exponentially since the supposed end of WW2, that these things could happen to ANYONE. Be glad that there are those who do admit to being wrong and are willing to share that. No excuses, just reality. Fascism is about propaganda attempting to mask reality.
